Shadow represents a state of mystery, the unknown, the uncertainty, and most of all fear. Woody realizes that a woman is looking for him but he is unable to figure out who she is or what she wants from him. All that his friends ever see from the woman is only sort of a shadow. Woody then plays a waiting game to discover the true intentions of the mysterious person.
